Description

‘Lil Slewy is an ultra-simple 2hp integrator module with a luxurious 30mm slide pot to dial in the perfect amount of portamento slipperiness in your pitch CV’s, round of the edges of gates, envelopes, and other CV signals.  It requires only 19 components and can be assembled in under a half hour with a steady hand.

BOM: All parts are readily available from Tayda or Mouser (handy for USA customers).

Build tips:

  • Be sure to install the power header BEFORE the slide potentiometer, as you cannot access the power header’s solder points once the slide pot is in place.  Also, be sure that the power header’s pins do not come into contact with the underside of the slide pot, which can cause shorts.
  • A few of the 0805 component placements are pretty tight, I recommend soldering C4, C7, and C2 into place before soldering D1 and D2, to avoid some tight spaces.
  • The capacitor that controls the length of time for the slew amount is C8 (4.7uF on the BOM).  You can reduce this if you want to use the module as a non-resonant low-pass filter for audio-rate signals, while still getting some respectable slew effects at the upper range of the slider.  At 4.7uF, the module is much more oriented towards CV slewing rather than audio slewing, though you can still get some nice mellowing of bassy saw and squarewaves, all the way down to respectable approximations of sine waves.  This doesn’t work too well at higher frequencies as the slew is just too slow to keep up and the signal diminishes in amplitude as an effect.
